BUILT TO PROTECT

Warranty and Life Safety.

EFFECTIVE DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2026

What our warranties cover and how to keep doors safe and compliant.

1. Warranty summary
Product warranty. Locks and hardware are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, which ZeroKey passes through to you. Manufacturer warranty terms, including length and exclusions, are provided with your quote.

Installation warranty. ZeroKey warrants its installation workmanship for the period stated in your customer agreement.

This summary is for convenience only. Your written warranty and customer agreement contain the full terms, and they control.

2. What warranties don’t cover
Unless your agreement says otherwise, warranties do not cover:

- Damage from misuse, abuse, vandalism, accidents, fire, flood, weather or other acts of nature.
- Changes, repairs or relocations made by anyone other than ZeroKey or an authorized partner.
- Batteries and normal wear items.
- Doors, frames and hardware not supplied by ZeroKey, or door conditions such as misalignment, sagging or damaged frames.
- Problems caused by third-party networks, phones, apps, internet service or power.
- Use outside the manufacturer's specifications.

3. Batteries and maintenance
Locks are battery powered. Each set of batteries is rated for about 95,000 transactions, and actual life depends on door traffic and conditions. The property owner is responsible for monitoring battery levels and replacing batteries as recommended, unless ZeroKey provides battery service under a written service agreement.

4. Life safety and code compliance
- Free egress. Doors must allow people to exit freely in an emergency as required by applicable building, fire and life safety codes, such as the International Building Code, International Fire Code and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, as adopted locally. Access control should never prevent emergency exit.
- Fire-rated doors. Hardware installed on fire-rated doors must be listed for that use. Tell us which doors are fire-rated before installation.
- Accessibility. Hardware and credential options should support ADA requirements for accessible doors. Tell us about any accessibility needs.
- Local approvals. The property owner is responsible for obtaining approvals from the local building official or fire marshal where required. ZeroKey will install to the manufacturer's instructions and the scope in your agreement, and will work with you on approvals when asked.
- Emergency override. Keep mechanical override keys secure and available to authorized staff and emergency responders, and follow your emergency plans for lockdowns and evacuations.

5. What access control does and doesn't do
ZeroKey systems control and record who can open doors. They are not alarm, intrusion detection, video surveillance, fire alarm or monitoring systems, and they are not monitored by ZeroKey or emergency services. No access control system can prevent every unauthorized entry, theft, injury or loss. Customers remain responsible for their overall security program, including policies for issuing and removing credentials, handling lost phones and fobs, and keeping override keys secure.

Removing a credential may require a short sync at the door (typically 7 to 12 seconds) before it takes effect on that lock. Until the sync is done, a lost fob or phone may still open doors it was assigned to.

6. Lockdown and emergency features
Lockdown, scheduling and remote features depend on system configuration, credentials, batteries and, for connected systems, network and app availability. Test emergency features regularly and train staff on them. Do not rely on any single system as your only emergency response measure.

7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ZeroKey's liability for products and services is limited as stated in your customer agreement. ZeroKey is not an insurer. Customers should maintain their own property and liability insurance.
